Pumpkins

Fall again is upon us, subtle though it is. Fall in Santa Barbara is more a manufactured event than a season. A bit like snow at Disneyland, charming if not authentic. It is hardly noticeable except for the occasional desire to wear a sweater, the proliferation of Indian corn on our mantles, and the fur on our teeth from eating all the way through to the bottom of the bag of candy corn. It is my favorite season, except for the other 3, which are also my favorites when they first begin. And all are my least favorite when they over stay their welcome, around 3 months from their arrival. Mostly, for us it means the boys want to eat dry leaves. Everything else is the same. We also changed our photo props to pumpkins. That’s about it.

Dear Jeremy and Ian,

You guys are sooooo cute. We love the pictures you took with all the orange pumpkins. We hope you had a great Halloween! We had a great Halloween. We got lots of candy and we had fun trick or treating. Did you wear costumes? Megan was a black cat and Kyle was Fred from Scooby Doo. What did you wear?

Great to see your whole family in a photo!

Love,

Megan and Kyle (and Krissy & Steve)

To all the McCarters,

I discovered your blog on the internet today and I read the entire thing in one setting. I am 20 weeks pregnant with identical twin girls. I was told at an 17 week ultrasound that there was a 24 percent discrepancy in the weights. We were given all of the options and told that we needed to been seen weekly by my perinatologist. We went back a week later and things were still ok. I go back again on Wednesday to see how our girls are doing. It was so nice to be able to read a blog of someone who understands the stress that comes with all of this. TTTS was something that I had never heard of before that appointment. Still they are not sure that my twins have TTTS, but they are closely monitoring for it. Dr. DeLia actually called me “just to talk” and see if I have any questions. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee. I am so glad to hear that your twins were delivered safely and that they are very healthy little boys today! We too believe in the God of miracles and know that he is holding our twins in the palm of his hand.

Cousin Brad, you crack me up!

It's really fun to read your posts. Always glad to see pix of the boys and Megan & you. It's a miracle in action I love watching. God is so good!

As for 36...take it from someone who's 40...it's not much different! (square root of 1296 instead of square root of 1600, but aside from that...) I gotta confess: you're a lot more fun now than what I remember from 30 years ago at Aunt Hazel & Uncle Eldon's! Blessings!
